Standard installation criteria
The prices quoted on our website are a guide, based on the standard installation criteria detailed below and final quotation is subject to a full site survey. Please review criteria below to check eligibility.
- Installation of circuit cable up to a distance of 15 metres (clipped direct to wall) from your consumer unit to the charge point location.
- Routing of the cable through a drilled hole in a wall up to 500mm thick, if required.
- Installation of earth rod into soft ground, if required. Note:- If Matt:E unit included, earth rod within install not required.
What is the Matt:E unit?
Under the BS7671 18th Edition wiring regulations, due to a potential danger from an open PEN fault, an EV charge point situated externally or allowing charging to be performed externally (i.e a tethered cable trailing outside from a garage). Cannot be connected to the PME earthing of the building, therefore requires separate earthing via an earthing rod. The Matt:E unit disconnects the supply in the event of an open PEN fault, eliminating the requirement for a earth rod. At Rutland Vehicle Charging we recommend the install of the Matt:E unit over earthing via an earth rod.
- Installation of the charge point to a permanent structure. (i.e masonry wall or post)
- Adequate space to install a 32A rotary isolator along supply cable run.
- A spare way on the consumer unit and space adjacent to install a separate RCD unit for the charge point.
- No groundworks (i.e routing cable in an underground trench to exterior post or outbuilding). We can carry out groundworks but this must be agreed and quoted prior to installation date or during site survey.
- Earthing arrangements and bonding must comply with current regulations (IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition).
- The incoming supply must be adequate enough to allow the additional load of an Electric Vehicle Charging Point.
Other eligibility requirements that you need to know and work not included in standard installation criteria:
